Clinical psychology is the branch of psychological science responsible for the research of all the factors, assessment, psychological diagnosis, recovery support and prevention affecting mental health in the conditions that may generate discomfort and suffering in human beings. The central practices of this discipline are psychological diagnosis and counselling (psychotherapy, performed by a trained therapist, is a separate branch), as well as the research, teaching, consultation, forensic testimony and development of programmes and administration.
