Pharmacy Service

 

The goal of the Pharmacy Service is to provide effective, safe and efficient pharmacotherapy through pharmaceutical care based on scientific evidence, thereby contributing to improving health to satisfy the needs and expectations of patients, healthcare staff and Sanitas. Our commitment is an integral part of the hospital and the Medical excellence in which we participate.

The Pharmaceutical Service has a Head of Service, two assistant pharmacists and 5 pharmacy technicians, working in morning and afternoon shifts.

Our responsibility is to manage the hospital’s medical acquisitions and consumption, monitor the budget and purchases and prepare the master formulae, parental nutrition and chemotherapy treatments, dispensing these and medicines to inpatients, outpatients and external patients.

We also intervene in pharmacotherapy clinical management activities, including improving efficiency, pharmacovigilance activities, risk management and safe use of medicines. The Pharmacy Service sits on the following clinical committees: Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Infections and Anitbiotic Policy, Clinical Safety Committee. We also promote partnership agreements with the IES Institute San Juan de Dios Madrid to train pharmacy technicians and with Francisco de Vitoria University for rotating medicine students in residencies.

OPENING TIMES:

The Pharmacy Service is attended by pharmaceutical staff from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Opening times of Dispensation to External Patients: Monday to Friday: 09.00 a.m. – 7.00 p.m. and Saturdays: 10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.

To collect hospital dispensation medication, the following must be provided:

  • Valid preion, from a doctor from our hospital or associated Milenium medical centres (green preion).
  • Medical report for the start of treatment, signed by a doctor from our hospital or associated Milenium medical centres.

 

The Pharmacy Service allows medication to be collected by a relative provided that they present the d documentation. Our service must be contacted at least one week in advance to order medication for hospital use and to request master formulae.
